Karon @ Phuket Thailand | Day 1

En route to the airport, right after I finish my final exam.

We had had a lot of help from bloggers who shared their travelling experience and so I thought I can do the same to help others as well.

Our trip was on last January, and this is the perfect timing to go there. The locals told us, avoid to go there from April to June, because the weather does not allow some water activities and island tour. So, pick a good date :)

When people talk about Phuket, they usually talk about Patong Beach, the most happening and crowded area in Phuket. However, we both do not fancy that, so we choose to go a more relaxing beach which is equally stunning as Patong beach ( in fact it is better).

Finally, we decided to spend 2 days in Karon and 1 day in Phuket Town.

Thailand is one hour behind Malaysia. We depart at 2005 in Malaysia, arrived at 2030 in Thailand (approximate because I can't remember the exact time). The flight took around one hour only from KLIA 2.

There were 6 of us. We did not take the taxi from the Phuket airport because two taxi will be needed for 6 persons and that is a bit pricey. JT has booked a shuttle service online at https://www.phuketshuttle.com/. The distance between the airport and our guest house is about 45km and took about 1 hour to reach. It costs us 1200 Baht and it is not really expensive when you consider that you are booking a big, spacious and comfortable van that can fit 9 persons.

So now let me tell you the best decision I have made for the trip--choose Holiday Village and Natural Garden Resort. This is not exactly like a hotel but like a guests house. My mother, particularly, has fallen in love with the place immediately when she passed through the garden.

Really not much to see about it right? But wait until you get inside!

We book it on Agoda. After reading the reviews and considering the location of the guests house, we decided to book this one. To be honest, the pictures shown on the Agoda website is not really convincing but I would say, it is much better than what it looks like on the website( I guess the owner did not update it ). We would not book it if it was not for the excellent reviews and the strategic location. And it actually surprised us with the design of the guests house.

Right in front of the reception desk.

Makes you feel like home.

Where we had our breakfast and chatting at night.

The walk way to rooms.

The garden is taken care very well.

Looks like a house, actually, it is a room upstairs and another room downstairs.

View from our room balcony. We can see the stars in the clear sky at night.
Maybe you are wondering what is so important about the garden, actually, it is not about that. This is a place where you go back to after tiring activities. And I think it is important for you to feel good like you are going home to get a good rest. And the owner, is a nice person and willing to give you a hand when you tell him what you need.

Now, it is about this place called Karon. It is 5 minutes walk to the beach and you can have some water activities there like Jet Ski, Parasailing, and Banana Boat. Well, you have to be careful with the Jet Ski scam. From the information we got online, they said you have to be more aware when they offer you a cheap price in the first place. It is because they may charge you extra AFTER you have done your Jet Skiing, said you have scratched it etc. Well, maybe we are lucky. We got 1600 Baht for one Jet Ski for 2 persons, meaning to say they will charge you the same price even though only one person ride the bike. ( Me and my dad exchange seat on the Jet Ski, for me to experience the awesomeeeeee ride.)

The hotel owner will lend you tikar and payung if you want to relax at the beach, and it is free of charge! Well, we only went to the beach to chill on third day, because our schedule was kinda full on the first ;)

After we took our shower, JT's father decided to have supper. Okay, food is good. So at 11.30p.m, we go to the hawker stalls opposite our hotel. Those are local food and the price is roughly the same as the food price in KL, so it is not really expensive. These stalls placed in front of 7-11, which is a wise move. We buy drinks from the 7-11, and we had our supper. Food time is always perfect for bonding, so yeah, finally my parents get to know his parents. Hahaha I know, we are nervous as well. But we know it is going to go well. Oh yeah~~~~

Okay, that is all for the night we arrived at Phuket. We had a good rest and ready to explore the town tomorrow!
